Emergency Preparedness System: SENTINEL
Our Town has partnered with the municipalities of Grand Bay-Westfield, Saint John, Rothesay, Quispamsis, Norton, Sussex and Sussex Corner to provide an improved method of managing an emergency in the community. We are all now using the same computer software program called Sentinel.
This system will allow us to monitor events, utilize resources of our own and call on our group for support. One of the most unique features of this program is its ability to allow us to notify homes in our community of situations requiring them to take action to protect themselves and their property from such things as flooding, weather events, and situations that would require an evacuation.
In order for this program to be effective, citizens must register at their own municipality’s registration page and provide an internet address;https://ecc.sentinelsystems.ca/selfsub/?c=hampton is the link for Hampton. If you do not have an email address you can register at the Town Office, 27 Centennial Rd. It is recommended that before registering you check out a list of most frequently asked questions, at https://ecc.sentinelsystems.ca/selfsub/index.php?page=faq&c=hampton.
The New Brunswick Emergency Measures Organization (NB EMO) co-ordinates preparedness for emergencies. At the federal, provincial and municipal levels, planning is the key to emergency preparedness. A well established and tested emergency plan helps to ensure a prompt and co-ordinated response by responsible agencies in a time of crisis. NB EMO also co-ordinates provincial response operations during emergencies and administers disaster financial assistance programs.
